Not really that long but longer than I’ve been running lately. Very pleasant conditions and a few photo opportunities.
The Adventures of Melvyn and Lesley
Having retired we are busy pursuing the things we enjoy

We had a lovely afternoon eating and watching flamenco dancing. Link
This is the second time we have run this race. We continue to be impressed by the way they cater for such a variety of entrants. There are races for all ages, 1/4 mile, 1 mile (I don’t know where they get the mile distance from), 6k and 14k. There are separate races for youngsters, a race for runners with dogs and of course, the 14k race that Lesley and I did. The race is organised by the army, complete with marching bands and big guns.
Conditions this year were very windy, quite challenging when running uphill and against the wind. We were both a little slower than last year but still managed to finish second place in our respective categories.
It was lovely to be cheered in near the finish by John and Maureen Dixon and friends Pat and Brian.
The beauty of having a car is that it’s easy to pop off to Los Urrutias for a meal. Paddy Singh’s is always popular, but, if you go early you can usually get a table. Lovely meal.
Last runs before our Cross de la Artilleria race on Sunday so just a gentle run.
Dorsal is what the Spanish call the race number you pin to your vest. The plan was to collect the numbers and vests (you get two technical T-shirts) and then go for lunch at a little restaurant we know in a pretty bay just outside Cartegena. Number collection was from El Corte Inglés in Cartegena was very efficient with the army (organisers) completely on the ball.
Unfortunately when we got to the restaurant it was closed for refurbishment. We decided to explore the area and discovered what must be the energy hub for the area. Based on the edge of the sea, it’s ideal for boats to bring in the gas, oil and other necessary essentials to keep the power on.

The narrow road led us to the top of the mountain giving us lovely views all round.
We found our way back to the main road network and headed off to Espacio Mediterraneo to have lunch and do a little shopping.
4 Bridges run today.
