Journey to La Manga 24

We left home about 9am on Thursday 31st October and had a good journey to Portsmouth, stopping on the way to eat our sandwiches. We arrived at the port early afternoon and got in the queue to board Brittany Ferries’ Salamanca ship. We eventually boarded about 6pm and after parking in the garage we found our cabin on the 7th deck. We had quiche, potatoes and salad in our cabin and after a brief walk round retired to our beds.

We had taken travel sickness tablets so we were a bit knocked out. We slept well but fortunately we didn’t need any more tablets as the crossing was very smooth. We had our own breakfast and lunch in the cabin but went to the Azul Restaurant for the evening meal. They had introduced a buffet table for the starter which was very nice but the main courses were good too, although it’s expensive (55Euros).

We arrived in Santander at 8am and had a good drive to the Hotel Moya in Honrubia where we have stayed before. The weather was ok but we were a bit concerned about what it would be like as there had been very heavy rain and floods in Valencia a couple of days before. We arrived about 4pm and checked into our room. We went to the restaurant for our evening meal (15Euros including drinks) which was very good and then watched Strictly on the laptop in our room.

The next morning we had tomatoes on toast and coffee and filled up with fuel at the garage next to the hotel. We set off for La Manga hoping again for no rain on the way. It was dry upto Murcia when there was quite a heavy downpour but it cleared by the time we got to La Manga. We checked in and went to the chalet (N110) which we had booked last year. We started to unload the van and get the chalet set up. We went to the campsite restaurant for our evening meal.
