I went for a run on Saturday (11km) whilst Mel cleaned his wings and sail. We met for a coffee at the campsite restaurant afterwards.

On Sunday 3rd December we went for a bike ride to Los Nietos, El Elgar, La Union and back to Los Belones for the usual coffee and tostada con tomate. We chatted to Andrea at the cafe whose English is very good. It was much cooler today with a North West wind but still sunny. There was a 5km running race on in El Elgar (Mueve La Vida) – one to look out for next year.

Monday 4th December was cloudy and cool with a light rainfall. We went to Cabo to do the weekly shop but also went to the Medical Centre on La Manga strip as Mel had ear ache again. He saw a doctor after a wait of about 40 minutes who gave him a prescription for anti biotic eardrops and tablets plus paracetamol and stomach upset tablets.
Mel not so well until the antibiotics started to have an effect and Wednesday was his birthday. The weather wasn’t that good so we didn’t go anywhere during the day but we did go to Bollywood Indian Restaurant in the evening. As usual we enjoyed the food and Mel always likes a curry on his birthday!
On Thursday we went to walk up to the guns at Portman from the car park, about 3km each way. We have been up there before but it is a good walk and always interesting to see the guns and the views over Calblanque and Portman.

We went for a bike ride on Saturday 9th up to Llano del Beal from the car park opposite the path to the Portman guns. It was an off-road track but very cyclable and interesting views over Portman and La Union.

We went into La Union so that Mel could add more data to his Spanish SIM and then cycled back to Los Belones. We stopped at the usual cafe for toast and coffee where we met Jude Ross’ daughter-in-law who we had met last year. Later his son came along too and it was good to have a catch up. Mel went wing-foiling in the afternoon.
Sunday 10th December was the day of the Torre Pacheco 11km race. We arrived in plenty of time for me to pick up my dorsal and goodie-bag which was full of the usual salad, veg, fruit and a very nice long sleeve top. The weather was dry, sunny and a good temperature for racing. Mel followed me round, taking pictures and cheering me on. I finished in 1 hour 10 minutes which I was happy with. We didn’t wait around for the presentations as there were no age category prizes this time.

Mel went for a bike ride over the hills near Portman whilst I did a 10km run on Tuesday 12th. He discovered routes that we might do together but also some which were just for him! He did about 44km altogether.

In the afternoon we went to Cavannas Beach along La Manga Strip and Mel attempted to wing-foil. Unfortunately the water was too shallow and he couldn’t make it work.
On Friday 15th we went to Cabo de Palos and had a walk up to the lighthouse. Afterwards we went to the harbour and had lunch at Busquets, our favourite cafe.

We went for another bike ride to Llano del Beal from the La Manga Club road on Saturday 16th. It was a bit cool but still blue skies and sunny so very enjoyable. Toast and coffee in Los Belones on the way back as usual with a chat to Tom and Joseph thrown in.
