The fear of a wet weather day didn’t materialise until the evening, yippee! We decided on a bit of a road trip around the north of the island today. We visited Cemaes Bay, Amlwch, Moelfre and Llangefni.

Cemaes Bay
We use the free car park in victoria Road which is just a short walk from the harbour. We were on a mission to find a post box to post Tony’s birthday card, and lucky us we met a very friendly postman who was happy to take the card for us. Now in the grand scheme of things it wasn’t cold, But, we were dressed in long walking trousers, fleece and a waterproof – oh and a hat, Lesley may have had gloves on. The postie, however, was dressed in regulation Post Office shorts and polo shirt. They make them hardy on Anglesey!
The tide was out, so there danger of the warning bell ringing.

Amlwch
We visited the GeoMôn’s Geopark Centre, an enthusiastic and knowledgable chap called Roger describe the how the geology formed by the movement of the plates (techtonics) made Anglesey unique and quite different, even from the rest of North Wales. I found it extremely interesting.
Unfortunately the Parys Mountain Copper Mines was closed. Definitely coming back to have a look next time.
Moelfre
The pretty village of Moelfre is always worth a visit and we enjoyed the usual walk around the fishing harbour and up to the lifeboat station. We had lunch at Anne’s Pantry. Wild mushrooms on spinach and sourdough for me and Sweet potato, chilli and coconut soup for Lesley. Delicious.
Llangefni
A bustling town with all the shops you could need to stock up. I’m slightly allergic to shopping but can be coaxed to the middle of Lidl, where I found a car dent removal kit while Lesley did proper shopping.
