Week 4: 21 Dec to 27 Dec

On Sunday 21st December I went for a run and then met Mel at the Panaderia in the village. It was cool this morning but at least it was dry. We contacted Carmen again because the water heater was still making a noise every couple of minutes. She said she would get Lorenzo to come and look at it on Monday morning. Mel was going to go wing foiling in the afternoon but the wind didn’t arrive so we stayed at the apartment and sat outside for a while.

We got up and had showers early on Monday ready for Lorenzo to come and sort out the water heater. We went to the Panaderia for coffee, pastries and bread for lunch. We were back before 10 o’clock and then Lorenzo came. He is going to replace the water heater tomorrow. In the afternoon we went to Corralejo and Mel went wing foiling. On the way home we called at the Line Up shop and Mel swopped his hire board for a different one (F-one Rocket 6’2” 95litre). We went to Mercadone afterwards to get veg for Christmas Day.

I went for a run to La Oliva on Tuesday morning (8.77 km) and Mel stayed in to wait for Lorenzo. He came about 10am and fitted a new water heater. I had a shower and then after lunch we went to Corralejo and Mel tried the new board. But first of all he let his wing go and he had to swim down the beach to get it. Fortunately, someone picked it up and tied it to a rock before it could go any further. It was very busy on the beach and parking wasn’t easy. But Mel had a good session on the water. The water heater seemed OK when we got back and didn’t make noises to keep us awake like it did before.

On Wednesday morning (Christmas Eve) we had a short walk and a coffee at the Panaderia. It was very busy and they had sold out of pastries! It was a bit cool with a few clouds around today. I did a bit of packing when we got back and Mel sorted out some of the things in the car ready for packing away later. After lunch we went to Corralejo and Mel went out on the new board. It was a bit chilly sitting on the beach and it was quite late in the afternoon when we eventually left.

On Christmas Day we had a relaxed morning, spoke to Caroline, Tom & Laura and all the children, I did some washing, Mel vacuumed the floors and after lunch Mel had a rest – he decided not to go wing foiling! It was a nice day and the washing dried and I sat outside for a while. We had pre-cooked chicken, veg and potatoes for Christmas dinner!

Boxing Day isn’t a thing in Spain so everybody is back to work and all the shops are open. I went for a run (6km) and met Mel as usual at the Panaderia. had showers and then drove to Corralejo. We picked up the board and wings from Jet Surf and then took the board back to Line Up. In the afternoon Mel packed up the board bag and I packed the suitcases. We finished off the chicken and veg for tea.

Saturday 27th was our last day but our flight wasn’t until 19.30. so we went to the Panaderia after showering and finishing the packing. We had coffee and also bought some rolls for lunch. We had agreed with Carmen that we could stay at the apartment until 2pm.
