Peschiera del Garda 2024

Thursday 6th June

We arrived at the Hotel Bel Sito in Peschiera del Garda about 1pm after a relatively short journey from the previous stop over. We checked into the hotel and then walked into the town centre and had a couple of drinks at a bar near the harbour.

We recognised the area from when we had stayed here several years ago in the motor home. We walked back to the hotel, collected our key and unloaded our bags. Our room was in the annex on the second floor, very spacious and comfortable. We had a rest and showers and then went to a small supermarket near by to get some water. After that we went to a restaurant just across the road from the hotel and had a very delicious meal, including a tiramisu to die for!

Friday 7th June

We went to Verona (see separate page) and when we came back we went to the Vecchia Marina restuarant near the port. I had sea bass and Mel had lasagne which were both lovely followed by Tiramisu again!

Saturday 8th June

After breakfast we got a taxi from the hotel to the port (10 Euros) so that Mel didn’t have to walk. We bought our ferry ticket to Bardolino (26 Euros for both) and then went to get a coffee as we were in plenty of time for the ferry. We got on the ferry at 9.10.am arriving at Bardolino at 10.00.am.

We had a ride on the tourist train round the town (3Euros each) to give us an idea of the layout. It was hot and sunny and we enjoyed the brief trip!

We had a drink and later an ice cream before getting the ferry back to Pescheira. This time it called in at Sirmione so took a bit longer to get back and it was a bit cool in the breeze. A jet ski kept us entertained jumping on the waves at the back of the ferry.

We went to the Vecchia Marina resturant again in the evening and had Spagehetti Bolognese and Lasagne.

Sunday 9th June

We left Hotel Bel Sito about 9am after breakfast. We had a good journey with a few hold ups, sat nav telling us there were accidents but we didn’t see any on our carriage way. We arrived at Ancona Port Ticket Office about 1.30.pm. We checked in and got our tickets and then went to the port to get in line to board the Anek ferry to Igoumenitsa. The ferry was scheduled to leave at 16.30. but there was at least one hour delay. I walked on and went to get the room key, Mel eventually driving on. There was a large group of Harley Davidson bikers (at least 300) on a tour of Greece on board. We had a meal in the self service restaurant and then retired to our cabin.
