On Friday 7th October we loaded up the car with the Stand Up Paddle board (SUP) and headed off to Wrexham to Laura’s. After having lunch with Laura we went to pick Ella up from school and set off for Anglesey. We had a good journey and arrived in Rhosneigr about 6.30.pm and easily found our apartment where we were staying for the weekend – “The Lookout”. It was a well equipped, clean apartment ideal for a weekend stay with Laura, Ella & Layla.
After unloading the cars we walked into the village via the beach to get fish & chips for tea from Scarlett’s Fish & Chip shop. We really enjoyed our meal and went to bed looking forward to spending time together over the weekend.
On Saturday morning we went to the local surf shop to buy Ella a wetsuit and buoyancy aid and then we headed for the beach. Grandpa (Mel) took Ella into the sea and played about with the SUP and body board.
Afterwards we went back to the apartment and had lunch then went for a walk around Rhosneigr. It was a lovely day and we enjoyed the views and watching people on the beach. Ella kept us in touch using the ‘walkie-talkies’! We had very nice take-away pizzas for tea and then we all watched ‘Strictly’.
Grandpa & Ella went out again on the SUP on Sunday morning and had great fun with Ella getting more confident with being in the water and on the board. Laura had to do a lot of pushing Layla around in the pram as she was reluctant to settle off to sleep. It was another lovely day – we were very lucky with the weather. We all went to the Oyster Catcher for lunch but we were a bit disappointed with the service and Laura’s meal was not very nice. Pity! Laura packed up and left with the girls about 5pm and had a good journey back to Wrexham, arriving about 7pm. We stayed in Rhosneigr until Monday morning.
On Monday morning we had a drive around the island calling in at Aberffaw and then onto Beaumaris where we stopped for lunch before driving home.
